陳腐な言い方になってしまうけど、誰にでも思い出の曲があり、それを聴くと瞬時に昔のことを昨日のことのように思い出したりする。
1996年だっただろうか。ぼくがSouth CarolinaからCaliforniaまで一人で大陸横断しているときによく聴いていた曲がBette Midlerの EVERY ROAD LEADS BACK TO YOUである。映画FOR THE BOYSに入っているこの曲を聴くと当時の不安と孤独と希望が甦り胸がいっぱいになって泣きそうになる。
