昔、ぼくの青春がアメリカだった頃、常盤新平さんのニューヨークの話やアーウィン・ショーの「夏服を着た女たち」、そしてボブ・グリーンのコラムをよく読んでいた。青春だった頃のアメリカはすでに失われ、もう戻ってこないのではと思うと無性にあの頃のアメリカが懐かしくなり、久し振りにボブ・グリーンを古本で買って読んでみた。マイケル・ジョーダンが宙を舞っていた、湾岸戦争が始まった・・・。
最近、正確には昨年の11月以降、青春だった頃のアメリカがまた取り戻されようとしている。その反革命ムーヴメントの重要なプレイヤーの一人が Robert F. Kennedy Jr. である。言うまでもなく、1963年に暗殺された大統領 John F. Kennedy の実弟であり司法長官を務め、1968年に暗殺された Robert F. Kennedy のジュニアである。
